11 Mon Old Today

Shelby is 11 months old today, bittersweet. She is an amazing little girl full of spunk and determined ( stubborn ). She is still on the small side but for now I am putting that worry to rest, she is meeting all her milestones with in the "normal" range and she is ahead in other areas.
We did meet with a GI specialist 3 weeks ago, he did some blood work since her primary doctors blood work showed some elevated liver enzymes. We didn't discuss what that could mean, which I am thankful for. We go back on Wed. and until someone tell me there is cause for concern I will just assume I have a petite little girl.
I am not sure how to feel about her turning 1. I am excited at all the new things we have to look forward to, but still wanting her to be a baby. Funny thing is Shelby has not been much of a cuddlier since she has become mobile. I was missing that yesterday, I just wanted to cuddle with my little one. Well, we were playing last night and she was trying to walk and she did a face plant right onto the carpet. She was so upset and I scooped her up and held and she cuddle for about 20 min. Shortly after that I put her to bed like usual. Then at about 10:30 she woke up and wanted me to pick her up, normally I just lay her back down, so I did. And we laid in bed and cuddle for 30 min. and she fell asleep in my arms. It has been so long since she fell asleep with me.
They always say "Enjoy this time, it goes too fast". And now I am sitting her crying realizing how try that really is. I love my little girl so much, I just want to put the breaks on and take every moment and cherish it.

Haven't Posted in Forever

I told myself I was going to stick with blogging, and well as you can see I did not. I am trying to make a better effort to post more.
Shelby is getting so big. Today at lunch I sat and watched Shelby eat her lunch, I though to myself that she is starting to look less like a baby and more like a toddler. That makes me very sad, I am enjoying watching her learn new things and reach her milestones but I miss those days of just cuddling. Now she wants to do everything herself, and be a independent. I should be proud of that, it means I have done my job as a parent. But now I feel like I am a by stander, and I know that will continue to happen more and more as she gets older.
Well Shelby is awake from her nap. So I must go.

Adventures In Food

Shelby was doing so well on cereal that we moved on to food. I have always wanted to make my own baby food. Not only is it cheaper, but you can be a little more creative. I spent about 14 dollars on fruits & veggies and got over 60 - 2 oz servings which works out to be about .23cents a serving. I have never seen baby food this cheap even on sale, maybe with a coupon. first we started with bananas. What kid doesn't like bananas right? So after a few days on that we moved on to Sweet Potatoes, she liked them but not as much as her bananas. So now we are trying new stuff while still eating the favorites.
So far we have done
* Bananas ( She loves)
* Sweet Potatoes ( She will eat them but doesn't get to into them)
* Carrots ( Some days she likes them, some days she doesn't)
* Papaya ( She loves more then her bananas)
* Rutabaga ( S uprise, Surprise...She Loves Rutabaga)
So in the coming days we are going to try
After all that food is gone we will move on to some other fun stuff. Can't wait.

4 month Check up

Shelby had her 4 month check up ,yes its about a week early, but I wanted Mike to be able to go since I hate when she has to get shots. She weighs 11lbs 5.5lbs, 24 inches long, and her head is 14 inches. Dr. says she is growing well and has no concerns.
She cried when she got her shots but once they were done she was all smiles. She loves to flirt with the Dr. she always gives him big smiles and talks to him.
Two nights in a row Shelby has slept great. Tues. night she slept from 9-6 with small waking periods but once we gave her the pacifier she was back to sleep. Last night she slept from 8-7 and only really woke up 1x around 11, but went right back to sleep.
We also started rice cereal and she loves it. We started in hopes it would help enough to take her off the acid reflux medication. We are on day 2 and so far so good.

Moving All Over

Yesterday Shelby rolled from her tummy to her back. I thought the first time was a fluke since she was kind of propped up on a blanket. So I moved the blanket out from under her and sure enough she did it 2 more time. She does it almost every time I place her one her tummy. She is almost able to get from her back onto her tummy but she just gets on her side and goes back. I know she will get it soon.
Then today she has been laying on her back and scooting all over the place. She usually just goes in a circle which is pretty funny to watch but sometimes she manages to go backwards. So much for her staying where I leave her. Time for a pack n play so I can at least go to the bathroom and know she is safe.
Now that she moves a lot more I worry about the dogs. I don't think they would hurt her on purpose but they seem to being getting more curious about her when she moves and makes her noises.
Everything goes in the mouth these days. She drools all over everything, between the drooling, spiting up, and chewing we are going through a ton of laundry. Wish I had someone who would come over and just do laundry since it is my least favorite chore.
4TH of July was so much fun. I wasn't sure how Shelby would be with the fireworks, but she didn't seem to mind them at all. They were pretty loud, and she still managed to fall asleep and stay asleep through the whole thing.
My little girl is growing up too fast. She will be 4 months old at the end of the month.

Houston Aquarium

We went to the Houston Downtown Aquarium on Wed. and Shelby was in love with the big reef tank. When I walked away from it she got so mad, so I had to go back and stand there longer. She also really liked the Tigers (I did too). He kept staring at us, I think he might have seen Shelby as a snack. LOL
I do believe that Shelby is teething. She chews on her hands or anything that comes near her mouth, all the time and she is super fussy. Hope she doesn't actually get teeth until at least 6-7 months.

Sunday, June 27, 2010

I was sad today as I packed up the last bit of Shelby's newborn clothes. We have a few dresses left but the rest is tucked away in a box. We are now officially in 0-3 months. She is growing so fast, I knew it would go fast but not like this. I am excited to see what life will bring us as we move on to the next milestones but sad at the same time. Shelby is so close to rolling over and we almost got a giggle out of her tonight. We also have removed the incline from her bath tub so she lays flat. She loves it even more now then before. She kicks her legs and grins. Its like she is practicing swimming.
I am also so happy that I made it to my first goal with providing breast milk for her. I still have my days when I am sad that we weren't able to nurse but I am happy that I am able to pump and provide for her. So my next goal is to get to 6 months.
